apt-watch-backend software package provides Applet that monitors apt sources for upgrades (backend slave), you can install in your Debian 7 (Wheezy) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install apt-watch-backend
apt-watch-backend is installed in your system.
Make ensure the apt-watch-backend package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep apt-watch-backend *
You will get with apt-watch-backend package name, version, architecture and description in a table
